Framework updates.

Vehicle contract hire (formerly vehicle purchase, lease and disposal)

The original proposed scope of this framework was for the provision of vehicle purchase, lease and asset disposal. Due to tight timescales surrounding Brexit, and through further engagement with our stakeholders and key suppliers, it has been agreed that the provision of contact hire has the most strategic importance and could be delivered before the end of March 2019. Separate procurement process(es) for purchase and asset disposal are due to be delivered later in 2019.

We have been working closely with the Category Focus Group (CFG) to develop the tender documentation, and the contract notice can be found on Sell2Wales.

Day’s Rental open new branch

Following the recent tender award to provide vehicles to Welsh Government, and to further support existing public sector contracts in the region, Day’s Rental have opened their 11th branch on the Glan Yr Afon Industrial Estate in Aberystwyth.

Operating from a shared location, Day’s Rental are bringing services closer to their customers, in order to respond quickly to the increasing demand for rental vehicles in the area.

Mike McCarry, Managing Director for Day’s Rental commented:

‘Employing local staff and engaging with the local business community, we are excited to be in Aberystwyth and we look forward to adding value to the existing and future customers we serve’.

Day’s Rental are part of the CEM Day Group, a Welsh family operated business, who are in their 92nd year of trading.

Vehicle hire II

Gulliver’s Truck Hire, a supplier on our vehicle hire ii framework was placed in administration on 18 December 2018.

Gulliver’s was a large supplier of specialist vehicle hire, mainly to local authorities, providing refuse collection vehicles and winter maintenance vehicles. As a result of the administration, there may be an issue of supply to our customers, of these types of vehicles, which may impact on the delivery of frontline services.

If customer experience issues with supply, they may access CCS, ESPO or YPO arrangements in the short term.

Driver licence checking

This framework has been awarded to Admin Business Solutions, and is a single supplier framework. Guidance documents will be available on Sell2Wales soon (login required).

Vehicle spares

This framework has been extended for 12 months, and will now expire on 1 January 2020. The revised basket of vehicle spares has now been agreed, and can be found in the framework documents on Sell2Wales (login required).

Liquid fuels

We have been working with Category Focus Group members to develop the tender documentation. The contract notice can be found on Sell2Wales.

Tyres and associated services

This framework has been extended to 15 November 2019. There is no provision to extend the framework beyond this date. Following feedback from stakeholders, it is likely that future procurements for tyres will be undertaken on a regional or local level.
