GO Awards success for the National Procurement Service and Welsh Government!

he National Procurement Service (NPS) and Welsh Government have been named winners at the inaugural Government Opportunities (GO) Awards Wales 2016/17.

The GO Awards Wales were held on 6 October 2016, with the team emerging victorious in the ‘GO Innovation or Initiative of the Year Award – Central Government and NHS’ category.

The entry focused on the development of a Joint Bidding Guide to help overcome challenges faced by SMEs in winning public sector contracts. This was trialled successfully in 12 projects which incorporated several consortium-friendly features into the procurement process.

Sue Hurrell, Special Projects Manager said,

“Winning this award is really good recognition for all the hard work and effort our teams have put in. The original idea to develop the Joint Bidding Guide dates back 5 years, and the guide has since been trialled on a number of different projects before being refined. We have seen some great results so far, but we are still on a journey to learn more and improve the advice and support.”

The GO Awards Wales are the benchmark by which progress in this £5bn plus sector in Wales is measured. For further information visit Go Awards Wales (external link).
