Brexit update

To prepare for the possibility of a ‘no deal’ Brexit, the UK government has been publishing technical notices on their website GOV.UK.

All technical notices published to date are available on GOV.UK (further notices are expected to be published in the coming months).

We would particularly like to draw your attention to the procurement guidance note ‘Accessing public sector contracts if there’s no Brexit deal’.

A new team is now in place to work on preparing for Brexit regarding procurement and commercial matters. The team, headed up by Sue Moffatt, includes Julie Harrison, Sharon Phillips, Christine Bone, and Jane Williams, supported by colleagues in business intelligence, legal and policy.

Also this week, the Welsh Government launched the Business Wales ‘Brexit Portal’– a website specifically designed to help businesses as they prepare for the changes and challenges arising from the decision to leave the European Union.

The portal has 2 objectives:

  • Firstly, to provide up-to-date information and advice on a range of relevant business topics (including trading internationally and workforce planning) as we enter the 6 month period leading up to the UK’s departure from the EU.
  • Secondly, to provide a diagnostic tool which will enhance our existing support to businesses, raising awareness of appropriate preparedness actions and additional sources of support. This will provide a health check for those businesses already prepared or identifying key actions for those that may need more support.
